The Person Behind Every Treatment
Dr. Jip Prem is a licensed acupuncturist in Boulder, Colorado and board-certified by NCBAHM, holding both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Southern California University of Health Sciences, with an orthopedic concentration.
Her approach to care is shaped by a unique background as both a clinician and a former Olympian. Years of high-level training and competition provided a deep understanding of the body—how it performs, how it compensates, and how it recovers.
This perspective continues to influence her work, especially in treating pain, supporting recovery, and helping patients move more efficiently and comfortably.
She has also trained in Japanese-style acupuncture, including Shonishin for pediatric care. This style emphasizes gentle, precise techniques and a treatment approach that follows the body’s response rather than forcing it.
In addition to her clinical work, she is a mother of two and actively teaches and works with children. This experience brings a practical and compassionate understanding to her pediatric care, allowing her to connect with children in a way that feels natural, safe, and supportive.
Her work focuses on listening carefully, treating thoughtfully, and supporting each patient in a way that feels appropriate for their individual needs.
Dr. Prem’s path into medicine was shaped by both personal experience and a lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Raised in a family dedicated to community service, she was influenced early on by her mother’s work supporting children, families in need, and survivors of human trafficking. These experiences instilled a strong sense of compassion and responsibility toward others.
Later in life, while raising two children on her own and navigating major life transitions, she cared for her father during his six-year journey with stage-four cancer. This experience deepened her understanding of the importance of patient support, advocacy, and clear communication in healthcare.
Her father passed peacefully after six years from diagnosis. That experience continues to shape her approach—grounded in compassion, presence, and a commitment to providing thoughtful, supportive care.

Athletic Career Highlights
